Luke 14:33 So therefore, any one of you who is not willing to cut ties from anything (forsake – apotassomar – separate from – Adieu! – place in God’s hands ) that gets in the way of knowing me cannot learn from me.
This is the setting of the boats free from their moorings to discover (and uncover) the river of life.
The Pathway involves times of setting oneself apart to practice moving from the head to the heart, and frequent and constant ‘turning from and turning to’ in the midst of our responses – from problems and anxiety - to the conscious awareness of the presence of God. This is disciplined learning.
Think of what would exist in your heart if your head held no problems for you - Needs are not problems. Problems are unmet needs with negative emotional attachments.
Imagine that you have nothing to worry about or solve. You are simply obeying one of the most frequently given and mostly ignored commandments of Jesus and the apostles in the New Testament – ‘Be anxious for nothing’ - spoken 19 times in the New Testament.
Our heads would tell us that is the finishing point to arrive at after you have solved all your problems – no - it is the starting point from where you begin to sit in the secret place with God, where wisdom flows into your heart from his. This is where Jesus dwells in your heart by faith…
Ephesians 3:16.I am asking him to give to you, out of his abundant spiritual affluence, his own strength and spiritual might in your inner-most selves
17. So that by faith you will share life with Jesus deep within your heart. I pray that the roots of his love would go deeply into the soil of your hearts and become firmly established there
18. So that you would fully know and experience with all of God’s children the breadth and length and depth and height of the love that Jesus has for you
19. I want that experience for you to be far more than just knowing that his love is there. I want you to experience the fullness of the love relationship of Jesus and the Father
20. We therefore honor him who has the power to do for you more than you could ever think or imagine, through the power that he has activated in our spirit.
This is where we were created to live – the air we breathe.
This is where we do not have problems because we are one with the source of all answers, where we receive his wisdom and love.
A fish could think he had many problems - they could be sharks or reefs or nasty fish eating undersea plants. The fish doesn’t know that its real problem would be being taken out of the water. He needs that water for his survival. It is the air he breathes but he is unaware of how essential it is. It is his alignment with reality, his ‘righteousness’ – where ‘things’ work out as they should.
God’s presence is our alignment, our righteousness, our peace, in the fullness of his love – the air we breathe.
The Task – The labour to enter into the rest is:
1. Being still and KNOWING that he is God. Psalm 46:10
2. Learning Him by being yoked to Jesus. Matthew 11:28 … finding rest for your souls
3. Casting your cares (problems) upon Him for He cares for you. 1Peter 5:7
Practice this PRESENCE PRAYER 10-12 minutes twice each day, apart from other prayers, intercessions, supplications and giving of thanks, and be blessed.
